Canada’s men’s national field hockey team is hosting a two-game Olympic qualifier on October 26-27 in West Vancouver. The aggregate winner (most goals) will book their ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games. There are six of these two-game series world wide for the last six spots to the Olympics.

The Men’s National Team earned their spot in the Olympic Qualifier series by winning the Hockey Series Finals in Kuala Lumpur in April. Their opponent, Ireland booked their spot in the qualifiers by coming second at their respective Hockey Series Final tournament in France in June.

The teams will play a two-game aggregate series over two days to determine who advances to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Come cheer on Canada as they push for Olympic qualification.

The venue, Rutledge Field in West Vancouver, is a world class turf in a truly remarkable setting. Shadowed by the Coast Mountains and looking out over Howe Sound, Rutledge Field is a breathtaking location for the upcoming drama.

Field Hockey Victoria are working closely with the University of Victoria to be proactive in communicating field closures due to weather or other issues.

As a reminder, UVic has a field status page that they will update. Note that the status updated on the page is FOR THE DAY posted .

We will endeavor to also communicate to the team reps and umpires as well but the field status page is the priority for communication from UVic.

The Vancouver Island Men’s Field Hockey Association is looking to hire a new League Administrator to start immediately.

Please find attached a Roles & Responsibilities document outlining the duties of the VIFHA League Administrator. We are looking to hire a new administrator to take over for the 2019-20 season. Most of the leg work for the Fall schedule and registration has been completed. Training and transition support will be provided.

A committee led by the VIFHA President, Rajiv Dillon, and the league executive will conduct the hiring process.
An honorarium of $1000 will be provided for the year. This will be pro-rated depending on the successful candidate’s start date.
